SGIP Battery Project
Project Description:
The first four SGIP (Self-generation incentive program) battery storage facilities is underway at the E. George Water Treatment Plant. The Project involves installation of two Tesla Powerpacks and necessary appurtenances. Construction is currently underway and is expec ted to be completed in two phases. The first phase will be the construction of the civil work which is expected to be completed by mid-March, 2022. The second phase will be mid-May through early June, 2022, to complete the electrical work and commissioning. When completed, the battery storage will provide additional resiliency for PG&E PSPS events as well as provide an additional benefit of charging during off-peak times and discharging during peak-times thus reducing utility expense for this facility.
