Hughes Road Transmission Replacement and Litton Road Extension
The Hughes Road Transmission Replacement and Litton Road Extension project is complete.
The project was a significant undertaking that will bring several benefits to the community. The first portion of the project involved replacing 1,240 feet of existing 20-inch-diameter steel pipe along Hughes Road. This pipe, which is over 55 years old, has had numerous leaks and has reached the end of its useful life. The pipe is a transmission main critical for providing downstream flows to the system. As part of the project, a portion of the water system connected to a six-inch water line will be eliminated by connecting existing services to the new 20-inch main. Another portion of the project extended and connected the two ends of the District’s water system: a 600-foot-long, 10-inch-diameter pipe connecting the Litton Road pipe segment to the one ending to the southwest on private property. This second pipe will enhance the District’s water system by creating a loop for flow. The project will provide better operational service for treated water customers, ensuring a more reliable and efficient water supply for the community.
The Litton Road Extension is complete. Construction to replace the Hughes Road Transmission Main is scheduled to begin in July 2025.
