Mulch Magic Giveaway: 250 cubic yards given to the community
Eighty residents took away about 250 cubic yards of free mulch during Nevada Irrigation District’s Annual Mulch Magic Giveaway on May 20.
During the giveaway, the mulch was handed out free on a first-come first-served basis at the Nevada County Fairgrounds.
The annual event not only is a great way to help NID customers and community members make their landscape water efficient, but it is a great fundraiser and community service event for the Boys Scouts, who volunteered to load the mulch. The boys worked hard and were able to earn over $1,000 in tips! All funds they raised will go toward the registration fees of their summer camp out.
Mulch is a great tool to help save water in gardening and landscaping. Two or three inches of mulch helps retain water keeping the soil moist for longer periods of time.
NID purchased the mulch and teamed with sponsor Nevada County Fairgrounds.
