NID fire fuel reduction work continues on trees around Scotts Flat Lake Campground, Gate 2

Nevada Irrigation District (NID) is continuing efforts continue to remove hazardous trees and create a healthier forest that is more resilient to wildfire around Scotts Flat Reservoir.

The fire fuel reduction, being done as part of the Sierra Nevada Conservancy partnership grant Phase 4, now is focusing on Scotts Flat Campground, Gate 2.

Please note this work may be loud around the campground through March. NID has posted signs and flagged work areas to create a safe zone around the operators to keep campers and the public safe.

The District is pleased to partner with local and regional community organizations that support the outdoor experience. NID, a provider of both drinking and irrigation water in Nevada and Placer counties, owns reservoirs and adjacent lands which offer recreational opportunities to the community including hiking, camping, fishing, swimming, sailing, water skiing, and other activities.

NID also maintains and operates 169 campsites at two large campgrounds plus a group camp at Scotts Flat Reservoir, which is situated among the tall pines at the 3,100-foot elevation nine miles east of Nevada City via Highway 20 and Scotts Flat Road.
