NID to close camping facilities due to new state stay-at-home order
December 9, 2020
Nevada Irrigation District (NID) camping and recreation facilities will be affected by a new state stay-at-home order. The District’s campgrounds will be closed as a result.
The new region-based order was triggered at noon on Wednesday, Dec. 9, when fewer than 15 percent of beds became available in intensive care units for regional hospital networks. The order will go into effect beginning Friday, Dec. 11, and will stay in place for at least three weeks, depending on transmission rates and ICU capacity. NID is located in the Greater Sacramento Region for the purposes of this measure.
Because the order has been enacted, overnight stays at NID’s campgrounds will not be permitted. The District’s mountain facilities have already closed for the season, but camping at Rollins Reservoir and Scotts Flat Reservoir has been open. The order will close all sites to camping.
NID’s facilities will remain open for boating and day use from dawn to dusk.
The stay-at-home order states for outdoor recreational facilities: “Allow outdoor operation only without any food, drink or alcohol sales. Additionally, overnight stays at campgrounds will not be permitted.”
Now in effect, the order will stay in place for at least three weeks. After that period, the order will be lifted when a region’s projected ICU capacity meets or exceeds 15 percent, according to the California Department of Public Health.
