Nevada Irrigation Recreation Facilities Remain Closed with Trails Open

The weather is warming and we are all eager to get outside. Everyone at NID, like many of you, is eager to see our popular recreation sites reopened. However, NID must follow CDC and the Nevada County Health Officer advisories as it makes a decision about opening.

While the revised Nevada County Health Officer order allows for more outdoor recreation, NID’s campground facilities at popular sites including Scotts Flat Reservoir, Rollins Reservoir and Jackson Meadows Reservoir will remain closed until further notice. While the County’s order does allow some additional outdoor activities, it does not amend the portions of the order regarding closure of “high touch surfaces” used by the public and gathering spots. For NID recreational facilities, this means campgrounds, bathrooms, BBQ and picnic areas. NID has received numerous calls from the public asking if the facilities are open.

“Our campground and public facilities are closed but the trails remain open,” stated Monica Reyes, NID Recreation Manager. “We can’t open the gates and keep the bathrooms closed, and police picnic and campgrounds.”

NID continues to coordinate with the Nevada County Public Health Department to determine when we can safely reopen our recreational facilities.
