Rich Johansen is a 4th generation farmer and a long-time resident of Nevada County. His connection to the county dates back to his great-grandfather, Patrick Foley, who arrived here in 1854. He has an extensive background in agriculture as a certified organic farmer and over eighteen years of service in local government and community organizations, including the Nevada County Agricultural Commission for 16 years, Vice Chair of the Nevada County Planning Commission, and President of the Land Trust for two years.
